The Empire

The Empire

At the height of its power the Empire spanned from the Isle of Wivern across the Astwind strait to the Draca Lands. The realms of the Empire include the old kingdom of Ryuugi, Narsaqna, Ragnarr, Kingsleigh, and the queendom of Kenwold. For administrative purposes five provinces were established, Chuofu is the central province wherein lies the Imperial City, Kitafu is the northern province, Higashifu is the eastern province, which sits across the sea on the Isle of Wivern, Minamifu is the southern province, and Nishifu is the western province.

The Empire is ruled by the Emperor who is advised by the Genronin, the council of elders. The Genronin were once appointed by vote as are the Imperial Ministers but in time the Genronin became like the line of the Emperor passed down from one generation to the next to the first born son of their household and so slowly the rule of the Empire became insular and the Emperor ceased to move outside the confines of the Imperial City. The result of which was widespread corruption within the power structures of the Empire which in turn led to increased poverty amongst the ordinary citizens of the Empire which in its own turn led the development of anti-government groups who sought to bring down the Emperor.

Within the realms of the Empire are people from every corner of the Draca Lands and all are afforded equal status with the exception of the Maaknalach who where enslaved by the Emperor for he saw them as less than human. With a steadily growing slave trade and widespread poverty the industrious Empire pulled ahead of the rest of the Draca Lands for the people had to work hard to survive and so the workforce was strong. The Empire soon became the major manufacturer of metal work, dairy farming, forestry, and precious stones which it traded with its neighbours at astounding prices.
